Boca Raton Continues to Lure Leading Healthcare, Tech, Innovation Companies

Written on October 5, 2013 at 7:35 am

CourtestyMarketoDotComBoca Raton’s role as an ideal location for businesses needing office, warehouse or industrial space got a boost recently when Accountable Healthcare Staffing announced it had decided to consolidate its headquarters in Boca Raton. The news from the healthcare staffing agency highlights the important place the city holds as home for a growing variety of companies. This role is only expected to grow as momentum builds and more companies see the benefits of being or remaining based in South Florida.

For a national health staffing company, taking 10,000 square feet of office in the city – and bringing many jobs in tow – means it finds itself in an epicenter of healthcare, technology, educational and general business enterprises.

“The move is part of a larger strategic plan that will allow AHS to continue executing its growth strategy,” Chairman/CEO Robert Adamson said in a statement.

What the company will find is that the healthcare sector is one of several that enjoy symbiotic relationships in the city. Boca Raton can trace this back to the birth of important technology and innovation milestones here that changed the world. The U.S. Air Force had a radar installation in Boca Raton during World War II. In the 1960s, IBM arrived and less than 20 years later, introduced the personal computer to the world.

Today, those organizations mostly are gone. But their imprint remains and their legacy lives on. Many of the 10,000 tech pioneers IBM brought to Boca remained behind when the company largely vacated the area in the 1990s. They eventually founded a host of companies in technology, education and healthcare.

Today, that stamp remains – and continues to lure other companies to the region. Like Accountable Healthcare Staffing. What AHS will find – like so many before it – is a community rich and diverse with all the amenities a thriving company needs, and the infrastructure required to continue to grow.

The symbiosis between business, civic and governmental leaders is strong. The business development community, like the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County and event the City of Boca Raton often work closely with executives exploring the city as a relocation possibility. Such was the case with AHS, which received thousands of dollars in lease subsidies. Currently, locally-grown Office Depot is working closely with business development officials as it weighs whether to stay or move following its merger with OfficeMax.

Regardless of what the office supply company decides, the reality remains: Boca Raton is an ideal home for any retail, technology and – yes – healthcare company that requires a community with all the amenities companies need to grow. That’s what AHS has discovered. We’re certain more will follow.
