March Madness, the Final Four, Louisville and the Pursuit of Greatness

Written on April 6, 2013 at 11:19 am

Final FourMarch Madness finally has moved into April’s Final Four. This weekend, all the brackets, competition and drama boil down to four teams competing in Atlanta for the NCAA basketball national championship. At Danburg Properties of Boca Raton, along with managing, marketing and leasing commercial, office and warehouse space to tenants, we’ve been watching the excitement unfold.

Wichita State is the remaining “Cinderella Story,” though Florida Gulf Coast University captured the nation’s imagination in the early going. Yet, the Louisville Cardinals have caught our – and the country’s – attention for a number of reasons, regardless of whether one cares about basketball at all.

The injury to Cardinals player Kevin Ware brought a sympathetic – and empowering – message to the competition. As he lay on the court, teammates crying and physically sick, he told them, “Don’t worry about me, just win the game.” Selfless sportsmanship indeed.

We wish Kevin a speedy and full recovery, and look forward to seeing him on the court next year.

We at Danburg Properties of Boca Raton have an emotional tie with Louisville for another reason. London the Standard Poodle is in the Kentucky town this week as he continues his pursuit of 100 Best in Show awards. Ninety-three down, he’s closing in. We couldn’t be more proud.

So, no matter your favorite team in the Final Four – the Michigan Wolverines, Wichita State Shockers, the Syracuse Orangemen or the Louisville Cardinals and Kevin Aware – the pursuit of greatness has brought them here.

Long live sportsmanship on the basketball court, the show ring and all life’s stages.
