7700 Congress: A Case Study

The Principals : Dayjet Technologies, (Tenant) Danburg Management (Landlord) Infinity Telecom (Broadband Service Provider – Contact infinity at 561-282-5502)

The Challenge : Provide a cost-effective solution for maintaining a software development office in Boca Raton where engineers could collaborate in real-time with headquarters in Seattle.

The Payoff: Danburg Management, along with Technology Partner Infinity Telecom, delivers a highly efficient 594 sf office space with broadband connectivity.  Infinity’s fiber connection is faster and more reliable at a lower cost than Comcast or AT&T.

Why Infinity Telecom?
In March  2011, Danburg Management entered into a strategic partnership with Infinity Telecom to provide Broadband Service to its Boca properties.

The relationship was based on Infinity’s ability to deliver superior phone and internet service at equal or lower cost than that of Comcast or AT&T.

With the infrastructure now in place, Danburg Management can guarantee that phone and internet service will be running upon move-in.

Service can be connected in less than two weeks as opposed to a 30 to 90 day install for traditional T-1 service.

DayJet Technologies

DayJet Technologies’ mission is to be the leading provider of optimization solutions to companies that operate in a disruptive supply and demand environment.

DayJet was originally formed as an air-taxi service that developed innovative scheduling software for its in-house operations.

DayJet Technologies was formed when its investors saw a tremendous opportunity to leverage DayJet’s people and technology to create a company that could solve difficult optimization problems in a wide range of industries.

TIMELINE

March 8, 2011: DayJet Technologies (DJT) signs a lease for 594 square feet. The lease is contingent upon Landlord’s ability to deliver broadband service within 1 week of commencement.

March 15, 2011: Velocity VOIP completes its cabling of The Preserve at 7700 Congress. A fiber circuit is then connected to DJT’s Suite, delivering the contracted 3MB bandwidth both up and down. The monthly cost to DJT: $69 per MB.

March 16, 2011: DJT’s is fully operational at the Preserve at 7700 Congress a full 2 weeks ahead of their scheduled lease commencement.

May 5, 2011: In our interview with Doug Stauffer at DJT, he told us that the broadband service was necessitated by the need to enable the company’s Virtual Private Network.  Their VPN is used to interconnect their new Seattle office and various customers with their Boca Preserve office. DJT had arranged phone and DSL for standard internet use through AT&T as a contingency plan and to provide future redundancy capabilities. As it turned out, it was the contingent DSL service that missed the move-in deadline with 4 on-site visits before it was operational. Doug informed us that the Infinity Telcom broadband has been operational and performing flawlessly since day 1, with 100% up-time, while reliably delivering the performance levels promised and better than anticipated latency levels.  As expected, the DSL service has yet to perform at the minimum service level specified.

Advantages of a Fiber Connection

Equal speeds for upload or download – a regular DSL line can usually only upload at about 1/6 of the speed that it downloads.

Low latency – Fiber connections are nearly instantaneous. The time it takes to connect can be especially important for real-time applications such as stock trading, online logistics and even on-line gaming.

Bandwidth is scalable and can be increased or decreased based on client request almost instantly

With a 3 MB connection you can download a MP3 format in 1-2 seconds. A standard feature film (1.7GB) takes less than 10 minutes. While cable internet can provide similar speeds, the speed depends on how many people are on line. Monthly cost with Infinity is as low as $69 per MB.
