Summer’s Almost Here: Boca Raton Police Remind Beachgoers ‘Remove UR Stuff From UR Car!’

Written on June 3, 2013 at 3:41 am

Danburg - Banner planeThe team and even our tenants at Danburg Properties of Boca Raton know the importance of protecting valuables when parking outside a commercial, office or warehouse space. Car break-ins can be a common occurrence. But what about when at the beach?

Using some catchy, playful language to get across an important message, the Boca Raton Police Services Department is warning beachgoers to protect their belongings this summer – including at the beach.

The truth is: Many beachgoers do not want to take all their possessions onto the sand. So they often leave valuables unattended in their vehicles.

As we move into the summer beach season with kids out of school and holiday weekends approaching, the Boca Raton Police Services Department is reminding everyone to take valuables out of their cars.

To help spread the message, a plane will fly a banner over Boca Raton beaches to remind visitors that they need to remove their personal property from the car.

Other tips include:

Close windows and lock doors.

• Keep the interior of your vehicle clean and free of valuables.

• If valuables must be left in your vehicle, place them in the trunk prior to arrival at your destination. Thieves may be watching as you arrive.

As you leave your vehicle to enjoy your day at the beach, be aware of your surroundings. Look for people who loiter, lift door handles, or are looking into vehicle windows. Report these people to police by calling (561) 368-6201 or 911. Make your stay at the beach safe and enjoyable.
